"So when will you write?" the attractive lady across the table said with a smile. I was amazed at her godly insight. I had been struggling with this same question, but didn't know where to begin or who to contact for guidance. I just knew there was so much in my heart that I felt God wanted me to share through writing...things such as testimonies, answers to prayer, spiritual nuggets, Bible studies, healings, and inspirational thoughts.
Out of desperation, I went to the Lord about this dilemma once again, but with a different approach. My prayer was for the Lord to lead me to someone or something that could give me the guidance and direction I needed. I was specific this time, asking for help with contacts, publishers, writing tips and so many other needed information which could be a springboard for Christian ministry through writing. Little did I know how quickly and uniquely God would answer my prayer.
The following week my precious Columbian friend and I were passing through the lobby of the Grove Family Library for our weekly ESL lesson. We stopped briefly to check out current events listed on the bulletin board. To my amazement and delight, I found information about a local Christian writing club called 1st Writes. I copied the handwritten phone number at the bottom and called the next day to see if I could participate. I was told the group was still open and was encouraged to attend the next Wednesday night session.
The group proved to be a tremendous blessing to me. The homework assignments were inspiriational and were a catalist to putting pen to paper. Success stories, critiquing and studies in God's Word were so helpful and encouraging. I was hooked and I loved it.
I'm so thankful for the obedient servant who posted the circular about 1st Writes and for the wonderful administrators who made this ministry possible. If I could see the attractive lady who asked the question, "When will you write?" I would answer her....today....because God has made a way!!

A Thankful Spirit
As the season of thanksgiving approaches, our country pauses to thank God for His many blessings. We who are believers can have a thankful spirit every day of the year. It is truly a joy to give thanks for the not-so-usual things we often take for granted as well as the biggies we often mention at first thought. Things such as a home, food, family, good health, and salvation. Sometimes, though, when I'm walking and enjoying nature, I make a "thank God" list which causes me to smile from ear to ear. I can picture my heavenly Father smiling along with me as we commune together.
As I walk, I thank God that I'm not bald, I thank Him for my ten toes, for eyelashes, for the teeth in my mouth, for my walking shoes I'm wearing, for God's humor, for the squirrel running across the street, and the ability to see and hear him scamper. My list continues until my heart is flooded with joy for the way God has worked in my life in ways I haven't before seen. I realize in a new way the blessings I have received from my Father....and I am truly thankful.
